Tour de France 2019 in numbers

The 2019 Tour de France is a brute: five summit finishes and a whole host of climbs peppered through France from the north right down to the Pyrenees and the Alps.

It is a route which will demand from its conqueror a strength in the mountains, a resilience in the thin air in the clouds, and the skill and bravery to descend at high speed.

The race starts in Brussels on Saturday 6 July to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Eddy Merckx's first Tour de France win, and culminates in Paris three weeks later.

The critical days may well fall just before Paris, however, and three back-to-back mountain stages which will test the yellow jersey hunters to their limit.

Take a look below at our 3D interactive map of this year's Tour de France route, complete with details of every categorised climb along the way.
