Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

After bowling the home side out for 375 at Edgbaston, Sussex charged to 82 for 0. But then a remarkable collapse saw them lose five wickets for six runs in 18 balls to seamers Neil Carter and Jimmy Anyon.
Carter took 6 for 63, his best figures with Warwickshire, as all 10 Sussex wickets fell during the session. Chris Adams top scored with 65 as the visitors were out for 246. Warwickshire lost Mark Wagh, Jonathan Trott and Nick Knight but closed on 88 for 3, 217 ahead.
Middlesex's Nick Compton scored a career-best 190 to ensure his side entered the final day with a lead of 204 with three second-innings wickets left against Durham at Lord's. Owais Shah made 57 before Ottis Gibson dismissed Ed Joyce and Jamie Dalrymple. Scott Styris (84) shared a stand of 161 with Compton.
