From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Sachin Tendulkar struck a brilliant century here yesterday but his efforts proved in vain as Pakistan levelled their one-day limited-overs series with India at one apiece.
Tendulkar became the first player to reach 13,000 one-day international runs on his way to 141 - including 17 fours and a six - before he was caught on the boundary by Abdul Razzaq off Shoaib Malik's bowling.
India, chasing 330 for victory, lost their way somewhat after the dismissal of their talisman, and despite some lusty late hitting they were eventually bowled out for 317, leaving them just short of Pakistan's formidable total.
India had looked to be in a strong position while Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid were at the crease. The experienced duo came together at 141 for 3 following the dismissals of Virender Sehwag (26), VVS Laxman (4) and the captain Sourav Ganguly (15), and proceeded to add 105 runs.
Tendulkar's dismissal was soon followed by that of Dravid, bowled by Mohammad Sami for 36, and was the beginning of the end for India. Shoaib Akhtar, the "Rawalpindi Express", finished with 3 for 49 in his 100th one-day international, which took place in his hometown.
