From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Kent started solidly with Robert Key and Joe Denly putting on 67, playing freely against the pace bowlers. But the introduction of the off-spinner Paul Wiseman proved effective as he took three wickets for six runs in a 13-ball spell.
Key, on 33, was the first to go, attempting a sweep and caught by wicket-keeper Phil Mustard. A run later he had Denly lbw and in his next over Matthew Walker's cut went into the hands of Michael di Venuto at slip to reduce them to 80 for 3.
When bad light brought an end to the day, Martin van Jaarsveld was on 14 and Neil Dexter on 3 with the balance appearing to tilt in Durham's favour.
Earlier Durham had resumed on 126 for 4. Dale Benkenstein and Ottis Gibson added 64 with the former, on 22 overnight, bringing up his third Championship century of the season having faced 166 balls.
