Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Graeme Hick and Vikram Solanki hit centuries as Worcestershire cruised to an eight-wicket win over Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge in the fourth round of the Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy.

Hick reached 117 not out and Solanki scored 108 as the pair – left out of England's one-day squad for the triangular series with India and Sri Lanka – put on 195 for the second wicket to guide their side to their 263-run target with six overs to spare.

A century from James Hockley spurred Kent on to an emphatic 128-run victory over Warwickshire at Canterbury to secure them a quarter-final date with Gloucestershire.

Hockley hit 121 off only 107 balls, with 14 fours and three sixes, to give his side a massive total of 328 for 9 to defend. Warwickshire's reply never gathered momentum, with only Ian Bell (50) and Jamie Troughton (32) producing any real threat.

C&G QUARTER-FINAL DRAW: Kent v Gloucestershire; Essex v Yorkshire; Sussex v Surrey; Somerset v Worcestershire.

Ties to be played on 16 or 17 July.
