From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria took seven wickets as Bangladesh slumped to yet another heavy defeat here yesterday. The newest Test-playing nation have struggled to adapt to the highest level and this defeat was their sixth innings loss in their 10th Test match.

In the only previous Test meeting between the two countries, in Multan last August, Pakistan won by an innings and 264 runs.

It was a match in which five Pakistani batsmen scored centuries while Kaneria snared 12 wickets. The 21-year-old took 7 for 77 off 19.4 overs yesterday as Pakistan stormed to victory inside three days.

In front of dwindling crowds, frustrated at Bangladesh's inability to compete, Kaneria took charge, with the Bangladeshi batsmen unable to cope with his turn and variation.

Openers Mehrab Hossain and Mohammad Ashraful began resolutely before Kaneria made an immediate impact, taking two wickets in consecutive deliveries.

The rot set in with Abdur Razzaq, fresh from a superb 134, claiming Ashraful for 22 and then Aminul Islam either side of Kaneria's third wicket.

Fahim Muntasir hit 33 from 54 balls, but when he was caught off Kaneria, Bangladesh's misery, and Pakistan's victory, was complete.
