England vs Pakistan: Paul Farbrace believes Alex Hales deserves to be fined for his 'inappropriate comments'
Hales protested his first-innings dismissal with third umpire Joel Wilson on the opening day of the final Test

Paul Farbrace, England’s assistant coach, says Alex Hales fully deserves his fine for protesting his first-innings dismissal with third umpire Joel Wilson on the opening day of this final Test.
Hales was fined 15 per cent of his match fee, worth around £1500, by the International Cricket Council for seeking out Wilson in the match referee’s office after he was given out on the first morning of the match following a contested catch by Pakistan’s Yasir Shah.
The ICC yesterday confirmed Hales had been fined for dissent after making “some inappropriate comments as he was leaving the room”.
England have warned Hales over his behaviour and Farbrace admitted: “He deserves his fine. You can’t go into the match referee’s office during a game and have a heated exchange as I understand Alex did.
“He deserves to be fined, it’s the right thing ICC have done and we can’t support any player going in and having a crack at the third umpire. However frustrated he is it was the wrong thing to do.
“We certainly wouldn’t have advised him to go and share his thoughts on the dismissal. That’s not the brightest thing to do really.
“When you’re mid game the last people you need to upset are the umpires. You work very hard on having a good relationship with umpires. The last thing you need to do is go and kick the door off the hinges and maybe tell the third umpire he’s made a mistake. It’s not going to make any difference other than to your bank balance.”
