England calls cost Surrey key players
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Adam Hollioake is back in training with Surrey but will not play in their County Championship First Division game against Kent. The Surrey captain has not played this season following his brother Ben's death in a car accident in March. Hollioake has been in Australia, where his wife gave birth to their daughter, Bennaya, two weeks ago, but has returned to the Oval.
Surrey have been hit by England call-ups, with Alec Stewart, Graham Thorpe, Alex Tudor and Mark Butcher in the squad for the third Test, while Kent may bring in their off-spinner James Tredwell for the pace bowler Ben Trott.
Leicestershire's captain, Vince Wells, will lead his side out in their First Division match against Warwickshire despite a shoulder injury. Wells was left out of the side for Sunday's abandoned Norwich Union League game with Worcestershire, but the injury has healed sufficiently. Warwickshire will be without the off-spinner Ashley Giles if he is named to face Sri Lanka while pace bowler Alan Richardson is rated doubtful because of a knee injury.
