David Warner is set to return home to Australia and miss their last two Tests against India because of concussion and a hairline fracture of his left elbow.

The opening batter was struck in the grille of his helmet shortly after taking a painful blow to his left arm in Delhi, on both occasions attempting to pull India quick Mohammad Siraj.

Warner was subsequently substituted out of the second Test, where Australia lost inside three days to fall 2-0 down, and Cricket Australia has confirmed he will return home to start his rehabilitation.

“David Warner has been ruled out of the Qantas test tour of India and will return home,” CA said in a statement.

“Warner was struck on the elbow in the second Test in Delhi and sustained a hairline fracture. After further assessment, he will require a period of rehabilitation which will preclude any further involvement in the remainder of the Test series.”

CA anticipates Warner, who made just 26 runs in three innings against India in the first two Tests, being available for next month’s ODI series.
