From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The home side were led to victory by Tim Ambrose’s unbeaten 82 after 18-year-old Sam Hain made the visiting team pay for dropping him on two and 18 by sharing a 56-run stand with nightwatchman Chris Wright, one of 108 with Ambrose and finishing on 63.
Nottinghamshire looked favourites when Jonathan Trott was caught at short leg off Peter Siddle in the first over but, save for a brief scare when they slipped from 228 for 4 to 234 for 7, Warwickshire’s target of 289 always seemed one they could achieve.
Maximum bonus points take Nottinghamshire eight points clear of Yorkshire at the top of the First Division but their three closest pursuers have all played a match fewer. Warwickshire go third, level on points with Somerset, who drew with Lancashire, but some 23 off the lead.
