Your support makes all the difference.Sean Ervine guided Hampshire to a surprise victory at Basingstoke as Durham wasted a chance to go top of the County Championship First Division. Ervine's 94 not out guided Hampshire home by two wickets as they chased down 240.
After 35 wickets fell on the first two days at the May's Bounty ground, Hampshire were 108 for 5 in their second innings overnight. Ervine curbed his attacking instincts to usher the Hampshire tail home.
Nottinghamshire earned maximum batting points against Sussex at Hove. Notts reached 458 for 3 with Mark Wagh unbeaten on 127, while Matthew Wood made it to 89.
Kent were 182 for 2 against Yorkshire in their second innings at Scarborough, trailing by 48 runs after the hosts scored 457. Neil Dexter was unbeaten on 72, with Matthew Hoggard dismissing Joe Denly for 66 and Robert Key for 12.
No play was possible at Blackpool, where not a single ball has been bowled between Lancashire and Surrey.
In the Second Division, Derbyshire were making a good fist of their chase of Warwickshire's declared total of 476 for 9 at Edgbaston. The promotion-chasing home side could not rein in Chris Rogers, who hit an unbeaten 160 to help Derbyshire reach 307 for 3 at tea.
Northamptonshire took maximum batting points against Glamorgan at Wantage Road, thanks to the exploits of the former South Africa all-rounder Lance Klusener, who hammered an unbeaten 153. At tea Northamptonshire were 426 for 7 in reply to Glamorgan's 287.
