The England and Wales Cricket Board and Cricket Australia have announced the 2017-18 Ashes schedule, with Adelaide set to host the first pink ball fixture between the sides from December 2-6.
The schedule sees England travel to Brisbane for the first test on November 23, before moving onto Adelaide and Perth before the traditional Boxing Day and New Year's Tests in Melbourne and Sydney respectively, with the final Test due to end on January 8.
However England may be spared a trip to the WACA Ground, with the new Perth Stadium inked in to host the third Test should it be completed in time.
It would be a welcome move for the tourists, who boast a poor record in Western Australia, with just one win and nine losses in the 13 Ashes Tests held at the ground - the most recent of which was a crushing 150-run loss in 2013.
It will be the second day-night Test to be held in Adelaide, which hosted the inaugural fixture against New Zealand in 2015 to great acclaim, while subsequent matches have also been regarded as a success.
Earlier this year, England announced plans for a first day-night Test on home soil in an attempt to attract more spectators to the sport and prepare for an anticipated Ashes Test under floodlights.
On the decision, Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland said: "We're really excited to announce that Adelaide will play host to the first ever day-night Ashes Test.
"We know how much Adelaide fans love this style of Test cricket. We're expecting a full house next year in what is sure to be a great contest."
