Ashes 2015: Alastair Cook caught by 'luckiest catch ever', England captain dismissed in bizarre wicket during Third Test at Edgbaston
Captain dismissed on first day of the Test

Just as everything seemed to be going Alastair Cook’s way on Day One of the Third Ashes Test, the England skipper was given a timely reminder of the vagaries of cricket.
Despite losing the toss, things at Edgbaston had been just about perfect for Cook, who saw Australia insert themselves into bat and then promptly crumble to 136 all out.

To make things even better, James Anderson, who went wicketless in the recent Lord’s humiliation, turned in his best ever Ashes performance, picking up 6/47.
When it was his turn to bat, it seemed everything was going smoothly for Cook as well, the left-hander making Australia’s much-vaunted seam attack look a little toothless as he advanced to 34.
Ultimately however it appeared luck was not on the England captain’s side as he fell victim to one of the luckiest catches you are likely to see.
Smashing a pull shot off Nathan Lyon, the ball went straight at Adam Voges at short leg and nestled in between his arms as the fielder shut his eyes and tried to get out of the ball’s way.
You can see Cook’s unfortunate end below...
Despite the loss of Cook, England remain in a strong position on Day One.
