Andrew Flintoff return: Former Ashes hero in talks to play for Lancashire in this season's T20 Blast

Former England captain Andrew Flintoff is in talks to make a dramatic return to Lancashire for this season’s T20 Blast, five years after he last played professional cricket.

The Ashes great has turned his hand to TV and even tried his hand at boxing, along with a number of charity fundraising projects, but a Lancashire spokesman has confirmed that the 36-year-old has been training with the club and is in talks over a return.

“We are in talks with Andrew over possible involvement with the club,” the spokesman told the BBC.

Flintoff shot to fame as he took a starring role in the victorious 2005 Ashes Series, and after captaining England in the ill-fated 2006-07 Ashes Tour Down Under, he bowed out on a high as he tore Australia apart to help regain the Ashes on home soil in 2009.

However, chronic knee problems forced him to retire from professional cricket after the series.
