Snake slithers onto cricket pitch and interrupts play in Sri Lanka
A large snake slithered onto the cricket grounds of a Lanka Premier League game in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on Monday, bringing a temporary pause to the game as bemused players and spectators looked on.
The reptile, believed to be a non-venomous ptyas mucosa maximus or rat snake, interrupted a game between Galle Titans and the Dambulla Aura.
“Oh gosh look at that, one thing that frightens me, I just don’t want to be anywhere close,” a commentator was heard saying.
Wildlife officials were called upon to move the snake back to its natural habitat and play resumed after that.
