England Under-19s' bowlers overcame a frustrating start to their four-day match against Pakistan Under-19s in Faisalabad to gain a firm foothold. Pakistan's openers, Farhan Adil and Shahid Qambrani, put on 91 but England then got the upper hand causing the home side to slump to 142 for 6. Hassan Raza halted the collapse with 64 and stubborn tailend resistance lifted Pakistan to 248 for 9 at the end of play.

New Zealand ended their four-week tour of Pakistan on a winning note, outplaying their hosts in Karachi yesterday for a seven-wicket victory in the final one-day international of the three-match series. Chasing Pakistan's 234 for 4 in 50 overs, New Zealand reached their target with 4.5 overs to spare to register their first one-day win in Pakistan since 1984. They still lost the series 2-1. Pakistan made a respectable total thanks to a swashbuckling 39-ball 66 by Wasim Akram, who shared a 108- run partnership with Ijaz Ahmad in 75 balls.

THIRD ONE-DAY INTERNATIONAl (Karachi): Pakistan 234 for 5 (Ijaz Ahmed 73no, Wasim Akram 66no, Zahoor Elahi 51; 50 overs); New Zealand 235 for 3 (N Astle 60; 45.1 overs). New Zealand won by seven wickets. Pakistan win three-match series 2-1.
