DAVID LAWRENCE, the England and Gloucestershire fast bowler, is to have an operation on August 15 to remove steel pins from his shattered knee cap.
Injured in the third Test against New Zealand at Wellington in February, 28-year-old Lawrence has already ruled out a comeback until next season when he has a benefit.
'The pins have to come out at some stage so it might as well be now,' he said today.
'They are hampering my complete recovery, but the doctor tells me once they are out I'll have the full movement of my leg and knee again.'
