CRICKET: Easy second win for Kiwis
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

New Zealand, spurred by a century stand between Craig Spearman and Stephen Fleming, crushed the Netherlands on Saturday to claim their second Group B victory.
The New Zealanders, who beat England in the tournament opener on Wednesday, piled up 307 for 8 in their 50 overs. Spearman, who hit 68, and Fleming, with a fluent 66, set a rapid tempo in their second wicket partnership of 116 that was sustained by Chris Cairns (52) and Adam Parore (55).
Cairns, who looked fitter than in the game against England after recovering from his recent calf injury, plundered 52 off 38 balls, including two huge sixes and four fours.
The Netherlands were frequently acclaimed for their fine fielding by a crowd of 20,000, but their batsmen never looked like achieving the daunting task of averaging 6.16 runs an over to win.
The Netherlands' batting was at its best when Peter Cantrell, their Australian-born opener, and Glamorgan's Roland Lefebvre found their touch with both scoring 45.
