Bob Fleeting, the Kilmarnock chairman, yesterday blocked Celtic's efforts to lure Tommy Burns, the Kilmarnock player-manager, back to Parkhead. Fleeting flew back from the United States on Friday for talks with Burns who is wanted by Fergus McCann, the Celtic owner, to succeed sacked Lou Macari as manager. Fleeting said that he has so far refused Celtic's request to speak to Burns about the job: 'He is under contract to us as a player and as a manager for the next two years. We are very anxious to keep him.' Fleeting had two meetings with Burns on Friday and more talks are scheduled over the weekend.
