MARTIN JOHNSON, Cricket Correspondent of the Independent, was honoured in the British Sports Journalism Awards, which were announced in London yesterday. Johnson was highly commended in the Sports Reporter of the Year category, which was won by Michael Calvin, of the Daily Telegraph. Calvin also won the overall award as Sports Journalist of the Year.

The British Sports Journalism Awards are organised by the Sports Council and the Sports Writers' Association of Great Britain and supported by Minet.
