Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Geoff Wragg's Sasuru continued his relentless progress when landing a short-neck victory over fellow British raider Wixim in the Group One Prix d'Ispahan at Longchamp yesterday.

It was only in the last stride that Michael Hills's mount poked his nose in front, and the winner will now be aimed for either the Prince of Wales's Stakes or the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot.

In Italy, the Peter Chapple-Hyam-trained Single Empire, ridden by David Harrison, won the Derby Italiano in Rome. The German challenger Ungaro was second with Chapple-Hyam's other runner, Panama City, third, and Paul Cole's Badlesmere fourth.

Frankie Dettori won the first two races on the card on Rosaria Panatta in the Premio Duccia di Boninsegna and Stato King in the Listed Premio Nearco. Michael Jarvis was on target in the Listed WWF with Polar Prince.

Luca Cumani had a winner in Milan, where Barba Papa won the Premio Rovigo, while Billy Newnes, who is based in Germany, won the Group Three Laurent Perrier Meile at Baden Baden on the Bruno Schutz-trained filly La Blue.
