From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 24-year-old is set to face KSI in a rematch of their amateur fight last year, which was a draw.
After fighting in front of 18,000 at the sold out Manchester Arena, the pair took their time to organise a rematch and now face off in the professional ranks for the first time.
Paul took part in a training session alongside coach Shannon Briggs, with his younger brother Jake Paul and media from all corners watching on.
Clips of the workout were uploaded across the standard social media platforms, and while many complimented Paul for the physical condition he has managed to find himself in, his upcoming opponent wasn’t too impressed.
“It was pretty standard, I probably expected more from him.
“He was skipping for five-10 minutes and he just looked knackered.
“The jabs were weak, his hand positions were all over the place. There’s a lot to decipher from that and compared to mine, he’s finished.
“He looks really good, big, bulky and heavy. I’m sure that’s going to do well for him over six rounds...”
KSI and Paul fight at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, California on 9 November.
