From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Olympic gold medallist is set to defend his title at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 9 July, if the Briton's promoters get their way.
It will mean a clash with the mouthwatering heavyweight rematch between Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko in Manchester, with that bout taking place the same night.
That same weekend will also see the Wimbledon singles finals, with the women playing on Saturday and the men on Sunday.
The British Grand Prix will be staged at Silverstone, with qualifying on Saturday and the race itself on Sunday.
On Saturday night is the much-hyped UFC 200 in Las Vegas, where Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor will come together for a rematch of their hugely popular fight won by Diaz at UFC 196.
And to top it all off, it's the final of Euro 2016 taking place on Sunday night at the Stade de France in Paris.
