Floyd Mayweather Jr and Logan Paul have finalised a date and location for their much-hyped exhibition fight.
The legendary boxer has been verbally sparring with YouTube star Paul over the last months, having postponed their initial plans to fight in February with restrictions placed on crowd size due to Covid-19.
Those problems appeared to have been overcome and last week a new date was rumoured for Saturday, 5 June, though that date was quickly walked back.
But now the new date has been made official, for Sunday, 6 June, therefore avoiding a clash with another pay-per-view event involving undisputed lightweight king Teofimo Lopez against George Kambosos Jr.
Mayweather and Paul will meet at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium, the home of the Miami Dolphins and Super Bowl LIV.
Showtime pay-per-view and Fanmio will carry the fight, it has been announced, with Mayweather confirming on Instagram: “Logan Paul and I are going to fight at Hard Rock Stadium. Mayweather Promotions, Fanmio and Showtime will team up to give you an epic event,” Mayweather wrote on Instagram.
There are no details confirmed yet on how many rounds they will fight or what size gloves the fighters will use.
Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs), 44, retired after defeating MMA star Conor McGregor by 10th-round TKO in a boxing match in 2017 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Though Mayweather featured in an exhibition bout since, knocking out Japanese kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa in 2018, with the American winning by TKO in the first round.
While Logan Paul (0-1 0 KOs), 26, lost his only professional fight against fellow YouTube star KSI, real name Olajide William Olatunji, in November 2019.
