Floyd Mayweather shared a video on social media as he prepared to engage in some sparring practice—leaving fans to criticise him for ignoring social distancing rules.

The now-retired boxer, who was undefeated in his career and has been linked with a comeback, was in Las Vegas where stay-at-home orders apply to non-essential workers.

Despite that, Mayweather was recorded preparing for a sparring session, with a number of trainers around him and helping him don his gear.

At least four others were seen in close proximity to Mayweather in the two short clips on his Instagram story.

One, wearing a face mask but no gloves, applied Vaseline to Mayweather’s face, before a second helped him with his gloves while wearing no protective equipment at all.

Mayweather himself had boxing headgear on, with no mask or other equipment.

Fans derided his decision to flout the social distancing decrees, pointing out that Mayweather should be subject to the same conditions as everyone else.

Nevada has suffered over 200 deaths attributed to Covid-19, with the United States as a whole hit by more than 50,000 fatalities linked to coronavirus.
