John Ryder will step out in front of a hometown crowd this evening as he headlines Alexandra Palace in his super-middleweight clash with Daniel Jacobs.

Each fighter is seeking a third straight win here, with American Jacobs (37-3, 30 knockouts) having bounced back from his loss to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez by stopping Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and outpointing Gabriel Rosado. Meanwhile, Ryder (30-5, 17 KOs) followed a decision victory over Mike Guy by securing a TKO of Jozef Jurko. A key question in tonight’s main event will be whether Jacobs will suffer from ring rust, however, with his narrow win against Rosado coming in November 2020. Ryder, in contrast, last competed in September, when he put Jurko away in the fifth round.

A victory over Jacobs would surely mark the biggest result of Ryder’s career, moving the 33-year-old closer to a title shot in the super-middleweight division. Jacobs, though, is similarly seeking to re-establish himself as a genuine contender. In the evening’s co-main event, Johnny Fisher faces Gabriel Enguema.

Fisher vs Enguema – Round 3

This is just the second time in his five fights that Fisher has gone past the second round.

Again the Briton misses with a right overhand... Enguema isn’t offering much in return, however, luckily for Fisher.

He drives a right straight into the gut of Enguema. Again, followed by a left hook up top – it’s parried, though.

Nice jab by Enguema, who slides the shot between Fisher’s feints.

Fisher vs Enguema – Round 2

One-two from Fisher early in Round 2, the right hand straight appearing to hurt Enguema slightly.

He then misses with a wild right overhand – not for the first time tonight. Fisher just seems a bit anxious here.

He’s light on is feet, skipping around, but isn’t getting his range right with that right hand; he misses with it again.

Now he lands a couple, though they’re not quite doing the damage he wants...

Fisher vs Enguema – Round 1

Fisher is 22 years old, 4-0 with four knockouts. Enguema, at 37, is much more experienced.

The “Romford Bull” Fisher swings big with a right hand but misses. The same again.

He’s already cut over his left eye. Enguema is knocked back by a heavy shot, however.

Blood is streaming down Fisher’s face, but he’s starting to connect with right hands. Is he tiring himself out, though?
