From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Charles Martin, who defends his IBF heavyweight title against Britain's Anthony Joshua tonight, has continued the war of the words between the pair by claiming that he does not know who Joshua's rapper friend Stormzy is.

The unbeaten Martin, who has won 23 of his 24 fights with one draw, has said that he has never heard of the 'Know Me From' and 'Shut Up' rapper Stormzy and suggested that his ring-walk music at the o2 Arena will be by US rapper 50 Cent, and it would be something "violent" to get him "hyped" for the bout.

Stormzy, who won Best Grime Act at both the 2014 and 2015 MOBO awards, performed the walk-on music for Joshua at his last fight and changed the lyrics of hit 'Shut Up' to rile Joshua's opponent Dillian Whyte.

"Stormzy? No, I've never heard of Stormzy," Martin told Sky Sports, when asked about Joshua's last walk-on music.

"I would say 50 Cent though. Shout out to 50 Cent. He said he was going to be at my world title fight and he didn't show up. I know him - we know 50, but I guess he was busy so couldn't make it.

Tonight's clash in London will be Joshua's first tilt at a world title. The 26-year-old from Watford, who of course won super-heavyweight gold at the London Olympics in 2012, has knocked out all 15 of his previous opponents in the pro ranks.

Martin, 29, won the title back in January, after his opponent, Vyacheslav Glazkov, was forced out of their fight in the third round after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.
