Luis Ortiz has called out heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder after the Cuban dominated Christian Hammer in a ten-round unanimous decision victory on the weekend.

Ortiz, who knocked down Wilder in the seventh round of their contest before being stopped himself, has now won three fights since that first defeat of his career.

The 40-year-old was briefly troubled by Hammer in the second round but went on to thoroughly outclass the Romanian, who has previously suffered defeats when competing at elite level against the likes of Tyson Fury and Alexander Povetkin.

“Every heavyweight out there should know that I still have it at 40,” the Cuban said. “Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, I’m ready.”

Hammer was humble in defeat, having claimed only two rounds between the three judges’ scorecards, but stopped short of saying he matched the level of Fury.

“Ortiz is a very good and experienced fighter. He’s technical and smart but he’s not as intimidating as people say he is,” Hammer said.

“I respect Ortiz but I don’t think he’s the best fighter I’ve ever faced.”
