The undefeated Oscar de la Hoya retained his World Council welterweight championship on Saturday by winning a 12-round unanimous decision over Hector "Macho" Camacho of Puerto Rico in Las Vegas. On the same bill Raul Marquez retained his International Federation junior middleweight title with a 12-round split decision over fellow-American Keith Mullings.

Birmingham's Robert McCracken, the Commonwealth middleweight champion, reached the 30th successive win of his career when he stopped the American Joe Stevens after 1min 40sec of the first round in Maryland, Florida.

Geoff McCreesh successfully negotiating the first defence of his British welterweight title and gained the World Organisation Intercontinental title at the London Arena on Saturday night.
