Your support makes all the difference.ANDY THOMSON made up for the disappointmentof losing his world pairs crown when he beat the defending champion, Richard Corsie, in the singles final of the World Indoor Championships in Preston yesterday.
'It's a dream come true and the highlight of my career - the greatest thing in the world,' said the Kent bowler after his 7-2, 7-0, 6-7, 7-6 win which earned him pounds 25,000. 'I'm very relieved. Richard was coming back at me very strongly.'
Thomson looked to be heading for the easiest of wins when he took the first set 7-2 in five ends and then added the second with a 7-0 whitewash.
But Corsie fought back to take the third set 7-6 and then recovered from 3-6 down in the next to level at 6-6.
Corsie was poised to force a decider when he lay shot on the next end but Thomson drove, killed the end, and on the replay picked up the title- winning shot.
'I thought if I sneaked the fourth set, I might just go on to win it, but it wasn't to be,' Corsie said.
