Borders attract Action
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Kelso has succeeded in tempting Large Action to its meeting tomorrow. Oliver Sherwood, the seven-year-old's trainer, has decided to send his Champion Hurdle contender on the long trip to the Borders because of concern over heavy ground at Sandown, the original target. Large Action is due to run in the £10,000-added Pat's Jester Morebattle Hurdle at Kelso tomorrow instead of Sandown's Agfa Hurdle on Saturday. The Kelso going was last night good to soft.
"I've been in touch with the people at Kelso and they've been very helpful,'' Sherwood said yesterday. "The horse is in cracking form, and though he has missed a couple of races recently, he has not been missing any work.
"He does not take a lot of getting fit and it is just a question of scraping the rust off him, as he hasn't run for two months."
Sherwood added that his top novice hurdler Callisoe Bay is likely to run at Ascot on Wednesday, provided the ground is not heavy.
