Crystal Palace won't fear being underdogs in Wembley showdown against Manchester United
A look ahead to the FA Cup final from a betting perspective
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Crystal Palace are underdogs to win the FA Cup but they were in this position when they famously upset the odds to reach the 1990 final against Saturday's opponents Manchester United.
Back then, aside from Palace fans, no one gave them a chance of beating Liverpool in an FA Cup semi-final. They had lost 9-0 at Anfield earlier in the season but they beat Liverpool 4-3 before losing the final after a replay. That first final ended 2-2 after normal time and you can get 22-1 with BetVictor on a repeat scoreline, while a draw at the end of normal time is 13-5. (That final would end up 3-3 after extra-time)
Alan Pardew’s side must also stop the rot against their bogey team. Palace have beaten United just once in their previous 20 clashes – in 2011 - and they finished 24 points behind them in the Premier League.
BetVictor have chalked up Palace as 9-2 to win the Wembley showpiece after 90 minutes, with United 8-11.
Wilfried Zaha, who left Palace for United before returning to Selhurst Park, is 5-1 to score. Wayne Rooney scored his 100th Premier League goal at Old Trafford on Tuesday in the win over Bournemouth and is 5-1 to break the deadlock.
