Athletics: Another chance for Jones
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The wily veteran pushed himself in to the selectors' plans by winning the Toronto marathon last October in 2hr 10min 6sec. Jones, a member of the Newport Harriers club who is now based in the United States, will be keen to make up for his last Great Britain appearance - also in Stuttgart - when dehydration struck when he was well ahead at the 1986 European Championships.
Jones, who will be 38 on 4 August, set a British best time of 2:07:13 in 1985. His partner will be Paul Evans, the 31-year-old Belgrave Harrier, who ran 2:10:36 in last year's London Marathon.
The women's marathon at Stuttgart will feature Sally Eastall of St Edmunds Pacers and Marion Sutton from City of Plymouth. Liz McColgan was not considered because she plans to defend her world 10,000 metres title.
