Eamonn Martin sprinted away from Mexico's Carlos Bautista to win Sunday's Chicago Marathon. Martin was forced to make an unscheduled stop after 17 miles of the race, which cost him nearly 30 seconds, but he battled his way back and caught up with the leaders after 21 miles, coming home in 2hr 11min 18sec, three seconds clear of Bautista at the head of an 11,000-strong field.
