Friday: The BBC televised the FA Cup final in its entirety for the first time in 1938. Preston beat Huddersfield 1-0 after extra time.
Saturday: In 1961 betting shops became legal in the United Kingdom.
Sunday: Stanley Matthews finally won an FA Cup winner's medal in 1953 when Blackpool beat Bolton Wanderers 4-3.
