Your support makes all the difference.The merger of two Walsall law firms has brought one of writer Jerome K Jerome's homes back onto the property market.
Jerome is best known for his books Three Men in a Boat, Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow and Three Men on the Bummel. The city centre property at 23 Lichfield Street has been used by law firm Addison O'Hare which is merging with another local firm Enoch Evans LLP and so leaving the buildings.
It is on the market with CPBigwood who describeit as a 'character property' for £425,000 and has a total floorspace of 5,000 sq ft. Currently, the ground floor contains six separate offices, a reception area, kitchen, print room and storage area. On the first floorare 11 more partitioned offices with another print room and storage. The second floor has four offices, communications room, filing room and storage area. As well as a basement, there is also off road parking.
Rob Watts of CPBigwood said: "It is a prominent, period building with plenty of history and could hardly be better situated. It could appeal to owner occupiers, potential investors or parties who may be interested in converting it to residential. It is a terrific opportunity for someone and we are expecting plenty of interest. The Jerome connection is the icing on the cake."
Jerome was born in Belsize House, a Grade II Listed building in Bradford Street, Walsall, which was bought and restored in the 1980s by the Jerome K Jerome Society where there is a small museum dedicated to his life and work and a blue Heritage plaque.
According to society, Jerome lived in around two dozen homes around England.
