Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

We're loving... Puji bespoke

Founded by Jimmy Ioannoun, an Indonesian design graduate, Puji specialise in the design and import of recycled hardwood furniture. All their products are hand-crafted from oak and timber reclaimed from colonial buildings undergoing restoration. They supply everything from beds to wardrobes and from dining tables to tea trays (pictured), and even offer a bespoke service where a designer will visit you at home to help you select your timber. Go to www.puji.com to see their catalogue.

We're hating... ruined furniture

The rain and sun may conspire to make your outdoor furniture's annual visit to the patio so brief that it's hardly worth the effort. The French though, who are blessed by sunnier climes, have produced some stunning, age-defying wrought iron tables and chairs. Thanks to a wonderful company based in Southampton – The French House – we can enjoy them here, too. They have several classic designs but the Xavier Pauchard range of metal chairs and tables designed in 1934 really stand out. Made in Burgundy using the original design these are suitable for indoor or outdoor use. Chairs cost £125 while round tables are £259. www.thefrenchhouse.net

We're buying... Fontana Arte

This beautiful table lamp comes courtesy of Italian light and stain glass window specialists Fontana Arte. Amelie lamps come in white, opal satin; transparent, light blue or red glass – and aluminium. These and other products can be purchased from Geoffrey Drayton, who has outlets in Essex and London. www.geoffrey drayton.com
