Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Property consultants Colliers International (WEB) have just released their annual Global Office Real Estate review which ranks Hong Kong - at US$161.14 (€119.31) per square foot per year - above London (US$139.43 or 103.23 euros) and Tokyo (US$101.24 or €74.96).
The report claims rents in the city fluctuated between a fall of 22.4 percent in the first half of last year and a rise of 16.7 percent for the second half of the year - and that they are expected to rise again in 2010.
The annual report looks at 154 office markets across the globe and said tenant demand remained weak in the United States and Europe, while both Latin America and Asia-Pacific were showing renewed signs of growth after all regions had reported higher vacancies and falling rents as the world came out of 2008 and all its financial misery.
