Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Now in its sixth year, the Designer of the Year award is presented to internationally renowned designers or studios whose work demonstrates high quality and innovation and expands the boundaries of design; previous winners of the accolade include Zaha Hadid, Marc Newson and Tokujin Yoshioka.
The award will be presented at Design Miami, an international exhibition of innovative designs from around the world, which takes place from November 30 - December 6. Design Miami caters to high end collectors searching for exclusive limited edition or one-off designs but the event also provides an opportunity for member of the public to see the latest in international design.
Based in Munich, 45 year old Konstantin Grcic has created designs in a variety of fields ranging from furniture and product design, to exhibitions and even architectural commissions. In 2001 the designer was awarded the internationally recognized Compasso d'Oro for the MAYDAY lamp and a selection of his other creations reside permanently in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Pompidou Center in Paris.
On the smaller, less high-end of the scale, creators of bathroom- and kitchen-related designs will be honored at Interior Design magazine's December 2 BoY awards in New York. Unlike Design Miami the BoY awards focus on practical, rather than luxury, grassroots interior design.
