It was a case of sex, drugs and rockeries as Ringo Starr, Roger Daltrey and Sir Cliff Richard joined other special guests to enjoy an exclusive preview of the Chelsea Flower Show yesterday.
Former Beatles drummer Ringo formally opened the event's WaterAid garden, while The Who frontman was at the Homebase Teenage Cancer Trust Garden as a patron of the charity.
Ringo Starr has been associated with WaterAid since 2003. "It's something we take so much for granted in the West," he said, "and it should be a right throughout the whole world. In this country, we take water for granted – the water companies just let it leak away. It's outrageous. Shameful. In many parts of the world, one bucket of clean water can keep a family going for two days."
