The Kremlin yesterday announced a breakthrough in a row with Ukraine over dividing the Black Sea fleet after talks involving President Boris Yeltsin. His heart operation will go ahead as planned, officials said.
President Leonid Kuchma of Ukraine said Mr Yeltsin had cut a "strong, powerful" figure during the meeting. "I saw the real Boris Yeltsin - a strong powerful person who knows what he wants," Mr Kuchma said. The two leaders met at the Barvikha sanatorium near Moscow where Mr Yeltsin, 65, is preparing for his operation. Moscow - Reuter
