In the video the man seems to be attempting to feed the fish when one of them locks onto his hand and refuses to let go.
The video shows the man wrestling with the massive fish for over a minute, as onlookers attempt to free him from the fish.
At one point the man is almost dragged into the water.
The video has been watched over 100,000 times on YouTube since it was posted two days ago.
Tarpons can be as heavy as 280lbs and be 8ft long, they are found on the western Atlantic coast and throughout the Caribbean.
