NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Two teenage girls killed a German man after 'befriending' him, luring him to a deserted park near the French Quarter and then trying to rob him, police said.

The 25-year-old German was killed early on Sunday while trying to wrest a revolver away from the younger attacker, a police spokesman said.

Police identified the victim as a member of the German military, but withheld further information pending notification of relatives.

Chanda Desilva, 18, was arrested on Sunday and faced a charge of first-degree murder. A 16-year-old girl, whose name was not released because she is a juvenile, was arrested late Sunday and faced the same charge. Police said the 16-year-old could be charged as an adult, increasing the penalty she might face if convicted.

The murder was New Orleans' 152nd this year.
