Madrid - Eighteen people have died and more than 120,000 hectares (296,400 acres) have gone up in flames in wildfires that have swept through southern and eastern Spain since Sunday. Five of the victims died aboard a fire-fighting aircraft that was flying too low above a burning hillside and crashed into a tree in the Alicante region.
