SEOUL (Reuter) - Kim Young Sam of the majority Democratic Liberal Party won a convincing victory yesterday in the South Korean presidential election, becoming the country's first leader without military links for more than 30 years. His opponent, Kim Dae Jung, immediately announced his retirement from politics. Kim Young Sam won 41 per cent of the vote while Kim Dae Jung won 34 per cent.
