Poland's former Communists and the Polish Peasant Party (PSL) seemed on the brink of forming the first left-wing government since the end of Communist rule in 1989, Reuter reports from Warsaw. The PSL said it was prepared to join with the ex-Communist Democratic Left Alliance and had put forward its party chief, Waldemar Pawlak, as candidate for prime minister.
