ISLAMABAD (Reuter) - Pakistan launched a manhunt yesterday for a 28-year-old fugitive wanted for killing two CIA employees last month outside the agency's headquarters in Washington, the Interior Minister, Shujaat Hussain said.

'The FIA (Federal Investigation Agency) is handling the case,' Mr Hussain said. 'An alert has been issued.' A senior US diplomat called on Mr Hussain earlier to tell him that Mir Aimal Kansi, had apparently returned to his home in Quetta, capital of the south- western province of Baluchistan, about two weeks ago.

In Washington, officials identified Mr Kansi as the suspect after an AK-47-type weapon found in his apartment was identified by FBI ballistics tests as the weapon used in the 25 January shootings.
