Mrs Mandela loses court battle

Johannesburg - Winnie Mandela, estranged wife of President Nelson Mandela of South Africa, lost her appeal against a court order to pay more than 100,000 rand (pounds 20,000) for chartering a jet to Angola in 1987. The ruling followed an announcement that she had agreed this week to pay more than R500,000 to a bank threatening to foreclose on her mortgage. AP
