Mother Teresa asked US legislators to pray for her to continue God's work as she went to Congress to receive its highest honour yesterday.

The 86-year-old Roman Catholic nun, on her first extended trip since a series of illnesses threatened her life last year, was pushed into Congress in a wheelchair to hear a steady stream of praise from lawmakers and other dignitaries as they celebrated the recent passage of legislation to honour her with the Congressional Gold Medal.
