Israeli air strikes target militants in Gaza Strip

Israeli air strikes have hit a series of militant targets in the Gaza Strip, damaging smuggling tunnels and suspected weapons sites, in attacks Palestinian officials said wounded 19 people.

Israel's border with Gaza has been largely quiet since an Israeli military offensive two years ago, but tensions have flared in recent weeks. A Palestinian health official said one man was critically wounded in a border clash. The Israeli army confirmed it opened fire at a group of militants about to fire a missile at a tank.
